Homestyle Dal Tadka with Attitude Hing & Pure Spices

There is nothing quite as comforting as a warm bowl of yellow dal paired with steamed rice or hot rotis. The magic of a memorable Dal Tadka lies in the final tempering—the sizzle of whole spices and the distinctive, digestive aroma of pure hing.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Toor / Arhar Dal (washed and soaked for 20 mins)
  • 1/2 tsp Attitude Haldi Powder
  • 1 tsp Attitude Dhaniya Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Attitude Mircha Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Attitude Sarvottam Hing (Compounded)
  • 1 tsp Attitude Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
  • 2 tbsp Desi Ghee
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 ripe tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger & crushed garlic
  • Salt to taste & fresh coriander for garnish

Cooking Steps:

  1. Pressure cook the soaked dal with 3 cups of water, salt, and 1/2 tsp Attitude Haldi Powder for 3–4 whistles until soft and creamy. Whisk gently.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan. Add Attitude Jeera and let it crackle. Add a pinch of Attitude Hing and immediately enjoy the rich aroma that fills your kitchen.
  3. Add ginger, garlic, and onions. Sauté until golden brown. Add chopped tomatoes, Attitude Dhaniya Powder, and Attitude Mircha Powder. Cook until tomatoes are mushy and ghee separates from the masala.
  4. Pour the cooked dal into the tempering, mix well, and simmer for 3–5 minutes on low heat to let the flavours marry.
  5. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Serve steaming hot with rice or phulkas!
